According to the Gartner report, worldwide IT spending is projected to reach $6.15 trillion in 2026, representing a 10.8% increase from the previous year. The trend is also reflected in Google Trends, where search interest for ‘IT services’ has reached record highs in 2026.
But there is still a clear gap between what students learn and what companies expect. Many students complete degrees with strong theoretical knowledge, yet struggle when they face real-world tasks in their first job.
This gap becomes more visible in cities like Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, where access to practical, industry-focused training remains limited. Students often need guidance, real exposure, and the right mentorship to become truly job-ready.
Codegnan is working to solve this problem by focusing on practical skill development and real-world training.
A Founder’s Decision to Leave Industry and Build for Students
Sairam Uppugundla began his career as a data engineer and built deep expertise in areas like Python, data science, machine learning, and software development. Alongside his industry experience, he also worked closely with institutions and government bodies, including Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation.
During this time, he kept noticing the same issue again and again. Students had degrees, but they lacked practical exposure. They were not fully prepared to handle real industry problems.
Driven by this gap, he made a bold choice. He left his job in Malaysia and returned to Andhra Pradesh with a clear mission to help students become job-ready through practical learning.
In June 2018, he started Codegnan in Vijayawada.
Early Growth Built on Quality and Word of Mouth
In the beginning, Codegnan operated without any strong marketing support or brand recognition. The focus was entirely on delivering quality training and building trust among students.
This approach slowly started working. Within the first year, the institute expanded from a 1200 square feet center to a 2500 square feet space. During this phase, it generated around ₹20 lakhs in revenue.
The growth came from student results and referrals, which helped the institute build a strong foundation.
A Practical Training Model Focused on Real Industry Skills
The institute focuses on delivering practical, job-ready training across key technology areas. It offers structured and hands-on programs in Visakhapatnam that help students gain real-world experience through projects, mentorship, and guided learning.
The programs are designed to move beyond theory and focus on actual application. Students work on real use cases, build projects, and learn how to approach problems the way companies expect in real job roles.
The training covers key domains such as Python, Java full-stack development, data science, machine learning, and software testing, along with other in-demand technologies. Alongside technical training, students go through a job accelerator program that prepares them for interviews and hiring processes through continuous practice and mentorship.
The approach remains focused. Help students build practical skills, gain confidence, and move into real industry roles.
A Strong Comeback Driven by Trust and Consistency
In 2022, things slowly began to improve as students started returning to offline training. Classes resumed, and operations became stable again.
By 2023, the impact of consistent quality became visible. The trust built over the years started converting into strong growth. What earlier took a full year to generate in revenue began to happen within a single month.
This is where things started to change for Codegnan and gave the team the confidence to expand further.
In August 2023, the company launched its first center in Hyderabad. Over time, Hyderabad grew into four campuses by 2025. In March 2026, Codegnan expanded into Visakhapatnam, marking another important step in its growth journey.
Building Credibility Through Student Outcomes and Placements
Many students who joined without coding experience have moved into developer, tester, and data roles after completing their training. This shift from learning basics to getting placed in real jobs reflects the institute’s focus on practical outcomes.
Over the years, Codegnan has built strong credibility through consistent student outcomes. The institute has trained more than 4,000 students and successfully placed over 1,200 learners in various companies.
More than 1,250 companies have hired Codegnan students, reflecting strong industry acceptance of its training model.
The company has remained fully bootstrapped throughout its journey. From generating ₹20 lakhs in its early phase to facing a complete shutdown during COVID, and then growing to ₹15 crore ARR, the journey highlights resilience and steady progress.
Expanding the Vision to Build Job-Ready Talent at Scale
As Codegnan enters its next phase, the focus is on expanding its reach and impact. The goal is to create a strong ecosystem where students, especially from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, can access high-quality tech education and build successful careers.
The team is also looking to collaborate with industry experts, mentors, and partners who can help guide the next stage of growth and make the model more scalable.
Continuing the Mission to Bridge the Industry Skill Gap
Codegnan’s journey reflects more than just business growth. It highlights a consistent effort to solve a real problem in the education system.
By focusing on practical learning and real-world skills, the company aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry expectations.
For Codegnan, this is not the final stage of growth. It is the beginning of a larger vision to prepare students for the future of technology.
