Low-cost airline IndiGo has made a strategic move by appointing Amitabh Kant as a non-executive director on the board of InterGlobe Aviation Limited. This appointment is pending regulatory and shareholder approvals. Kant, a former chief of NITI Aayog, brings a wealth of experience in governance and strategic reforms.

Kant’s career spans over four decades in public service, during which he has held significant roles, including serving as India’s Sherpa for the G20 summit under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His leadership was pivotal in crafting the New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration, which focused on critical global challenges, economic growth, and advancements in digital infrastructure.
His tenure at NITI Aayog is particularly noteworthy, where he led transformative initiatives such as the Aspirational Districts Program. This program has successfully uplifted many backward districts, earning recognition from the UNDP for its impact. Additionally, Kant has been instrumental in spearheading large-scale sustainability projects, including the Green Hydrogen Mission.
