Helping Covid With Tech
Doctors, health care workers, and other vital service providers became a top priority during the current Covid-19 outbreak.
They have to wear bulky but essential PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) suits for lengthy periods of time while doing their job. This breeds a lot of bacteria and perspiration, creating discomfort and an increased risk of infections.
The ‘CovTech-Ventilation System’ seeks to alleviate this. It acts as an add-on ventilation system for current PPE suits and is incredibly lightweight and compact. It provides comfort to our front-line medical personnel, keeping safety and user experience in mind.

Coming Up With Cov-Tech
Cov-Tech’s creator, and Watt Technovations’ founder, is 19-year-old student Nihaal Singh Adarsh. Other important members of the team include digital marketer and graphic designer Sayli Bhavsar and chief design engineer Rutwick Marathe.
Somaiya Vidyavihar of RIIDL (Research Innovation Incubation Design Labs) established an open Design Challenge in April 2020 to find answers to any challenge related to the present COVID19 situation.
Nihaal participated in the event and came up with an idea to overcome the problem of inadequate ventilation of PPE suits. His mother, who is a doctor, helped him come up with the idea. He quickly progressed through the levels, and we went on to prototyping.
After working with talented seniors and esteemed professionals in the field, Nihaal was determined to patent his invention and commercialize it. Hence, Watt Technovation was born.
He received a grant of 10 lakhs from RIIDL, and the prototypes were developed in Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE Lab India, Pune. Nihaal was also supported by the Department of Science and Technology, BIRAC, and Maharashtra State Innovation Society.
The prototype went over 11 variations. The design is now being finalized, and the production process has begun. The crew has been focused on expanding its market reach. Nihaal and his team will keep working to raise the bar on technology, aiming to enhance their device’s outcomes, lower healthcare costs, and create valuable goods.
Journey Through The Shark Tank
Nihaal presented his innovations on the hit reality show in season 1, episode 26. He says he learned a lot in the tank and is grateful that the sharks appreciated him as an entrepreneur and believed in his company’s mission. Their faith in the startup has bolstered the entire team’s motivation to keep moving forward.
The experience showed the young team that successful entrepreneurs have two main characteristics: enthusiasm and confidence, and this, together with clearly defined goals and hard effort, is what makes great firms great.

The product is lining up to be sold to various parts of India and abroad. Watt Technovations has secured dealers that have secured the product’s retail exclusivity. Different businesses are exhibiting interest in the device, especially now that the minor issues with vibration have been resolved.
The company is focusing on service-related SaaS-based solutions and slowly growing its staff. Several investors have expressed interest in investing in the firm, and numerous tech enthusiasts have expressed interest in collaborating with the company to develop future products.
