The pandemic has shifted our priorities, putting health and wellbeing first. People have a strong desire to adopt dietary habits that will help them improve their overall health and immunity.
According to studies, this shift in consumer behavior is long-lasting. Health-conscious eating will continue to be a preferred option in the post-pandemic age, providing Foods and Beverages (F&B) firms with a large opportunity to grow and offer new products.
Instead of merely calling food “healthy,” brands must emphasize transparency about particular health advantages their product possess.
We all know a balanced diet of all food groups is needed to lead a healthy life. However, for the average Indian with a busy life, deciding what to eat every day is exhausting. WellnessON helps customers figure out just that and much more. Let’s find out more.
How The Journey Started
WellnessON started with founder Santhosh Kumar Manchala’s personal struggles with obesity, and the many health conditions it is tied to.
His transformational journey started in April 2018. Due to severe fatigue and other symptoms, life was becoming hard. He found out he was pre-diabetic, with high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure.
Santhosh had access to several healthy lifestyle programs at the time because he was living in the United States and working for one of the world’s leading weight loss firms.
He enlisted as a customer to participate in the transformative journey at his own workplace, hoping to find a solution to his health condition. He joined a group of similar patients.
Here, the founder recognized the importance of healthy eating after connecting with other members and learning more about their challenges and solutions that worked for them. Gradually, he changed his eating habits and was able to improve his health.
Santhosh recalls how he was able to maintain his good eating habits by tweaking his behaviors and eating patterns.
“Years of hardships and personal struggle, excessive stress and poor lifestyle choices have destroyed my health and I was advised by my doctor to make big lifestyle changes.”
He used to consume a lot of junk food, but after following the lifestyle program, his junk food cravings vanished, and he was able to maintain good diet and lifestyle choices continuously. It took him 3-6 months to fully adjust to the new healthy lifestyle, but it was worth it.
These revelations made him consider how he might help other people achieve the same. He wanted to create a resource that people could use to bring changes in their diet.
The Foundation of WellnessON
Overnight changes in food habits are impossible. Santhosh was well aware of how ineffective ‘fad’ or ‘cheat’ diets were. He realized that a diet would only work if people continued to consume the regional cuisine they were used to.
He grasped the science behind the traditional Indian diet and tweaked it to meet individual needs.
WellnessON was founded in January 2020, after conducting significant research, interacting with a wide range of individuals from all walks of life, and working with behavioural scientists and nutritionists.
Two of the founder’s friends assisted with funding to further develop WellnessON’s programs in the market beyond the self-financed phase. The founder is currently working to create a whole behavioral science weight reduction ecosystem.
How Does WellnessON Work?
WellnessOn is a health and fitness startup founded on behavioral science and located in Hyderabad. It focuses on weight loss through doable changes in lifestyle and diet.
WellnessON brings long-term changes in your daily nutrition, mindfulness, and physical activity.
The startup takes a comprehensive approach to weight loss. Their services are multi-faceted. They offer a food monitoring/calorie tracking smartphone app, inform users on healthy habits, teach them how to make healthy meals, and deliver healthy food and snacks to their doorstep.
Their app is based on a behavioral science-based strategy that helps you unconsciously adopt modest modifications one day at a time, resulting in rapid positive effects!
WellnessOn respects your regional and cultural culinary preferences. They take your favorite cuisines, change the cooking process, and replace the unhealthy components with healthier alternatives, then offer them through cloud kitchens.
Each dish goes through a series of tests to determine the healthiest ingredients, cooking methods, and nutritional benefits. To minimize the loss of nutrients, top-notch cooking methods are used.
Excess fat or oil is decreased by using a closed cover, boiling/steaming, air frying, or using water as a cooking medium instead of oil.
Nuts, seeds, and other healthy fat-rich foods are substituted for butter or cream. In the kitchen, no sugar, food coloring, preservatives, or additives are used. Meals are made to perfectly balance the different nutrients needed.
Plans For The Future
WellnessON wants to establish three additional kitchens in Hyderabad by the first quarter of 2022 and to extend to a few more metropolitan areas by the end of 2022. Continuous food R&D allows them to develop recipes, which is extremely beneficial to staying healthy and keeping consumers pleased.
As a technology-based company, WellnessON is continually working on platforms and systems that will improve user experience, such as kitchen subscription systems, ordering systems, and customer support systems, in order to increase the number of satisfied customers.
WellnessON also plans to collaborate on endorsements with celebrities in the future. They are also launching new meal subscription plans in the next year. Plans to team up with health influencers, doctors, gyms, etc are underway as well.
WellnessON’s mission is to create “a healthy eating revolution across India”. We hope the rising startup realizes this goal soon, and with style.
