Unify Foodworks Raises Rs 5 Crore Seed Round to Expand Moe’s and Carvel Across Delhi-NCR

Unify Foodworks has raised Rs 5 crore in a seed round backed by Atrium Ventures and SailThru Ventures to expand Moe's and Carvel across Delhi-NCR.

New Delhi-based Unify Foodworks has raised Rs 5 crore in a seed funding round announced on 2 November 2026. The round was raised through compulsorily convertible debentures, which convert into equity later. The money will support the expansion of Moe’s Casa Mexicana and Carvel across the National Capital Region.

The round was backed by Atrium Ventures, SailThru Ventures, Arjun Vaidya and Abhishek Goyal. SailThru Ventures is the investment fund of boAt co-founder Aman Gupta. The backing brings consumer brand experience into a business that depends on getting everyday store operations right.

Unify Foodworks is the exclusive pan-India master franchisee for Moe’s Casa Mexicana and Carvel. It oversees market expansion, store operations and localisation for both brands in India. That master franchise role makes it the operator, not just an importer of two foreign menus.

Why Delhi-NCR comes first

The immediate plan is to build store density and brand recall in the National Capital Region, where both brands made their India debut. Expansion will follow only when the model has been proved store by store.

The company will use the region to test store economics, menu localisation and operating processes before entering other new markets.

Behind the stores, Unify is investing in an integrated supply chain, logistics and standardised operating processes. Digital standard operating procedures and training systems for store teams are part of the same plan. The aim is a repeatable model that can hold product and service standards as the network grows.

Two brands with different jobs

Moe’s Casa Mexicana works in fast-casual Mexican food, with burritos, bowls and tacos alongside India-specific options such as Habanero Paneer. India is the brand’s first international market. Unify also holds the master franchise for Moe’s Southwest Grill, the larger-format restaurant concept in the same portfolio.

Carvel brings a different occasion to the same company, with soft-serve ice cream and desserts. The American brand was founded in 1934 and entered India in 2025 with an outlet in Connaught Place. Together, the two brands give Unify a meal occasion and a dessert occasion under one operating system.

A staged bet, not a nationwide sprint

Carvel’s India entry in 2025 was framed around a longer plan for 100 stores over five years, backed by a Rs 40 crore investment plan.

The new Rs 5 crore seed round is smaller and more focused, and it is aimed at proving the operating model in one region first, because a franchise network is hard to fix after a rushed rollout.

This round gives us the runway to build those foundations store by store, so every new opening is a proven model repeated, not an experiment.

The quote is from Sumer Sethi, founder and chief executive of Unify Foodworks. His ambition is to make Unify the platform that international brands use to enter India, scaling names that own their category. The target for Moe’s and Carvel in India is more than 100 stores.
